Unplublished Project - Fractured Elite

Here's a bunch of work I did for the elite version of the main enemy of this unreleased game!
My co-concept artist on some of these was Nikki Dawes. https://nikkidawes.com/ My art director for these was Ben Zweifel. https://www.artstation.com/benzweifel

The very first sketches of the elites, when they were initially just bigger and weirder versions of the main dudes. The weapons and the base Fractured were painted by Nikki Dawes.

Some more refined versions. It was at this point that we decided we were being too conservative with the design.

Some super loose quick sketches to get more bold and weird with a new direction.

Some more quick sketches of the general proportions and vibes of the Elites and their weapons, and what their unmasked faces might look like.

Once a general bodytype was chosen, I sketched out what this guy might look like in life, in the heyday of his civilization. Then I buffed him up. Just a nude dude with a 'tude.

A few sketches of corrupted or zombified heads. The one one the right was the one we ultimately ended up going with.

Next I experimented with some more abstract and corrupted heads, to really sell this guy as an otherwordly being. We didn't go with these, but we explored similar ideas in different ways down the line.

Some early sketches of its clothing and armor. We had the idea that you might be able to break its armor, hence the kintsugi style gold cracks. I believe some of this might be Nikki Dawes' work.

A more detailed examination of the final armor design, with an without evil corrupted spikes.

A few different views to explain the form of the helm. This is oddly one of my favorite little sketches I did on this job.

Brought back the idea of him having an evil energy aura. I believe there was talk of his aura being activated in an enraged or powered up state.
